STEPS TO STEADY

We all want to stay active and independent and live in our own homes for as long as possible. Falls do not have to be an inevitable part of growing older – Avanti can help you to stay on your feet.

Falls are the number one cause of accidental injury in older Australians. As our population ages and the number of older people grows, the number of falls and fall-related hospitalisations increases. 1 in 4 people who are aged 65 and over have at least 1 fall per year.

Falls can result in permanent disability, restriction of activity, loss of confidence, and fear of falling, all of which reduce quality of life and independence.

Many factors can affect balance – the good news is that balance is re-trainable and falls are preventable with a specialised and targeted program to keep you active and on your feet — and it’s never too late to start.

Avanti’s Steps to Steady Program is an evidence-based strength, balance and mobility group program for fall prevention. Following an advanced assessment, this innovative program targets leg strength, balance and stability to reduce the risk of falling, with reassessments at 12-weekly intervals to demonstrate progress.

Avanti’s Step to Steady draws from the evidence-based - Balance Yourself and Clock Yourself programs – a strategic exercise sequence that gradually improves your balance. Each exercise is designed to be slightly more challenging than the last so that you can progress in small achievable increments. The program also combines cognitive and physical challenges into a brain game that makes you think on your feet.

Personalised Care for Your Unique Needs

Each journey begins with a one-on-one assessment, allowing our exercise physiologists to tailor exercises to your individual needs targeting leg strength, balance and stability to reduce the risk of falling. This assessment uses cutting-edge VALD technology to assess mobility, strength and balance with unparalleled accuracy.

Track Your Progress and Achieve Your Goals

Steps to Steady include continuous progress tracking with a reassessment every 12 weeks. This approach helps in evaluating your improvement.
